When possible Anna integrates an artistic residency to deepen her understanding or learn new skills.

By observing the body and life as it is through life drawing classes, Anna will be creating a new wearable shape for her knitting that can serve as a blank canvas for color work and textures.

Inspired by the the rural landscape with its natural vibrancy and the wish to give back to it Anna applied for a local artist in residency grant through Odemira Ciativa and received funding to do a landscape study. To help capture the color palette she worked together with photographer Brenno Kaschner Russo. They explored the river, the ocean, the meadows and the forest landscapes in the region. Anna spent time observing the landscape and used watercolor painting to develop a closer understanding to its colors.
Through this observation she selected colorful yarns made from local sheep wool and created wearable knitwear on her manual knitting machine. Creating a full cycle and regional collection of sweaters as the final outcome..

LOMIA CSC. 2020 - 2022
Lomia is the name of an asteroid in the sky - representing the invisible connections we live with.
csc stands for ‘community supported clothing’ taken as an example of an agricultural business model (CSA) that in this situation intends to further the connection between artist, material and community.
In December I was accepted to a ‘call for creative entrepreneurs’ supported by Magallanes_CC, ArteriaLab and a network of creative spaces in rural Alentejo. The final presentation will be in March/April 2022 with a collection of sweaters that highlight the importance of maintaining a relationship between artist, material and community. Resulting in customised clothing on demand, avoiding waste and bringing about social improvements through the process
